Finding Nemo 2

Deadline broke the news a few hours earlier that Stanton has signed on to direct Finding Nemo 2. According to the site, he “has a concept the studio loves.” This will be good news to those have been asking for a sequel starring Nemo the clownfish (looking at you, Ellen), but will no doubt cause others to worry that Pixar is beginning to play it safe now. In anticipation to that response, it is important to note that though a prequel to Monsters, Inc. is set for release in 2013, Brave was just released last month, and three more original films are on the way soon (The Good Dinosaur, The Untitled Pete Docter Film, and The Untitled Lee Unkrich Film). As long as there are original films in development, I do not have a problem with a sequel here and there. The studio has shown they can produce great sequels (e.g. Toy Story 2 and 3), and certainly has the potential to release more critically-acclaimed ones.

Before Toy Story 3 came along, the original Finding Nemo was the biggest at the box office for Pixar. The animated film is easily one of the funniest from the Emeryville-based studio, with the hilarious Dory, voiced by the aforementioned Ellen Degeners, stealing many of her scenes. While many have joked that a sequel with a story based on Nemo getting lost again would be treading all-too familiar ground, Stanton has often said that he would not work on a sequel until he had a great idea. It sounds like he dreamed up quite an idea.

Seeing that Pixar does not mind changing the title around for a follow up (Monsters, Inc. –> Monsters University), a title that solely utilizes ‘Nemo’ but drops ‘Finding’ is very possible. Many other titles would definitely be more interesting that just Finding Nemo 2.

Andrew Stanton has a fantastic track record at Pixar, having directed Oscar winners Finding Nemo and WALL-E. He ventured into live-action recently with John Carter, which was dubbed a flop before it even made it into theaters but still made around $300 million worldwide. It may have lost Disney money, but it was a notably ambitious take on the Edgar Rice Burroughs series that many tried to bring to the big screen yet failed. Now, in the shadow of Finding Nemo 3D‘s release in September, there are reports that Andrew Stanton has returned full-time to Pixar and is working on bringing a sequel to Finding Nemo to theaters in 2016.

Iron Man 3

Following the release of Iron Man 2, a conflict between Paramount Pictures, which has distribution rights to certain Marvel properties, and The Walt Disney Company, Marvel Entertainment's new corporate parent, clouded the timing and the distribution arrangement of a possible third film. On October 18, 2010, however, Walt Disney Pictures agreed to pay Paramount at least $115 million for the worldwide distribution rights to Iron Man 3 and The Avengers. Disney, Marvel, and Paramount announced a May 3, 2013 release date for Iron Man 3.

Iron Man and Iron Man 2 director Jon Favreau said in December 2010 that he would not direct Iron Man 3, opting to direct Magic Kingdom instead. He remained an executive producer of director Joss Whedon's spin-off film The Avengers and will also serve as a producer of Iron Man 3. Shane Black is scheduled to direct Iron Man 3, from a screenplay by Drew Pearce. In April 2012, Ben Kingsley entered negotiations to play a villain in Iron Man 3.

The following week, Feige said Iron Man 3 would begin shooting in North Carolina "in five weeks" and that it "is a full-on Tony Stark-centric movie ... very much inspired by the first half of 'Iron Man ... He’s stripped of everything, he’s backed up against a wall, and he’s gotta use his intelligence to get out of it. He can’t call Thor, he can’t call Cap, he can’t call Nick Fury, and he can’t look for the Helicarrier in the sky."

Later in April, The Walt Disney Company China, Marvel Studios and DMG Entertainment announced an agreement to co-produce Iron Man 3 in China. DMG will partly finance, produce in China with Marvel, and handle co-production matters. DMG will also distribute the film in China in tandem with Disney. Guy Pearce has entered final talks to play Aldrich Killian, a character who is featured in the "Extremis" comic book story arc. Jessica Chastain was in discussions for a role in the film but bowed out due to scheduling conflicts. Rebecca Hall was cast in her place. Stephanie Szostak was also cast in the film. A post-credits scene directed by Edgar Wright may be in production, where Ant-Man confronts Chen Lu.

Batman The Dark Knight Rises

Christian Bale is back for his final Batman movie. He said earlier in an interview that this will be his final movie wearing the Batman costume. Gary Oldman is also returning to play Jim Gordon. Then you have Michael Caine playing Alfred, and Morgan Freeman playing Lucius Fox. The new members for this final installment is Anne Hathaway, who takes on the infamous role of Selina Kyle. For those that don't know that name, you might know her famous alter-ego of Catwoman.

Anne Hathaway gets plenty of screentime in the trailer and is sure to be a hit. Christopher Nolan also adds Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Marion Cotillard, who were both in his huge hit Inception. Overall the cast stays the same, lined with star power and an enormous amount of talent. Of course you have Liam Neeson and the above mentioned Tom Hardy.

Batman Begins, which was released back in 2005 pulled in $372,710,015 Worldwide! Batman The Dark Knight was released in 2008 and is one of the top ten biggest grossing movies of all time! It pulled in a worldwide total of $1,001,921,825. This new and final installment, Batman The Dark Knight Rises is set to break records once again! It has an estimated budget of $250 million, up from the estimated budget of $185 million from Batman The Dark Knight. I think it is safe to say this Batman will rise right into the record books!
